The Nippon Cinema Award, worth EUR 2,000, was awarded by Metzler Bank at the closing of the Japanese film festival Nippon Connection in Frankfurt am Main on 6th May 2012. Top of the public's list of 18 candidates was THE WOODSMAN AND THE RAIN, a strange comedy about an unusual friendship between a 60 year-old lumberjack and a director of independent zombie films. Gerhard Wiesheu, Partner of B. Metzler seel. Sohn & Co. Holding AG and responsible for Metzler's Japan business, presented the trophy and certificate to festival director Marion Klomfaß on behalf of the award winning director, Shuichi Okita, who was unable to attend the ceremony personally due to filming commitments. Hiroto Makino (49) has been appointed Managing Director of Metzler Asset Management (Japan) Ltd. in Tokyo from March 1, 2012. He succeeds Mitsuyuki Kobayashi (60), who has been Managing Director of this subsidiary of Frankfurt-based Metzler Bank since 2002 and is now taking on the post of Chairman. ”In the past ten years Mr. Kobayashi rendered us great service in establishing and extending our business in Japan.
