Hiroto Makino appointed Managing Director of Metzler Asset Management (Japan) Ltd. in Tokyo

The Nippon Cinema Award, worth EUR 2,000, was awarded by Metzler Bank at the closing of the Japanese film festival Nippon Connection in Frankfurt am Main on 6th May 2012. Top of the public's list of 18 candidates was THE WOODSMAN AND THE RAIN, a strange comedy about an unusual friendship between a 60 year-old lumberjack and a director of independent zombie films. Gerhard Wiesheu, Partner of B. Metzler seel. Sohn & Co. Holding AG and responsible for Metzler's Japan business, presented the trophy and certificate to festival director Marion Klomfaß on behalf of the award winning director, Shuichi Okita, who was unable to attend the ceremony personally due to filming commitments. Metzler is sponsoring Nippon Connection since 2006 with a total of 10,000 per year. Read more

Hiroto Makino appointed Managing Director of Metzler Asset Management (Japan) Ltd. in Tokyo

Hiroto Makino (49) has been appointed Managing Director of Metzler Asset Management (Japan) Ltd. in Tokyo from March 1, 2012. He succeeds Mitsuyuki Kobayashi (60), who has been Managing Director of this subsidiary of Frankfurt-based Metzler Bank since 2002 and is now taking on the post of Chairman. ”In the past ten years Mr. Kobayashi rendered us great service in establishing and extending our business in Japan. For that he has earned our full respect and sincere thanks”, says Gerhard Wiesheu, member of the Partners’ Committee at B. Metzler seel. Sohn & Co. Holding AG and responsible for institutional asset management and the Asian business of this traditional German bank. Mr. Kobayashi will retain his close links with Metzler Bank, not just as Chairman but also as a consultant for real estate and corporate finance projects. Metzler awarded fourth place in broker ranking

Metzler Equities came fourth overall in the 2012 Analysts’ Awards with a total of five individual awards. Jochen Schmitt was awarded first place in two categories: for his equity recommendations on the Insurance sector and for the accuracy of his earnings estimates for the Financial Services sector. Jürgen Pieper was ranked top for his equity recommendations on the Automobile sector for the second year in succession, while Lars Hettche was awarded second place for his earnings estimates in the Chemicals sector.
