• No external shareholders - the bank has been in the exclusive ownership of the Metzler family for eleven generations
• Explicit refusal to engage in business activities which could result in placement interests of our own, e.g. IPOs as lead bank or proprietary trading
• No private equity business and no other significant lending business coupled with a deliberate reluctance to accept supervisory board mandates
